Hello everyone,
Here is another update on Graeme. This morning he was sitting up and working on
his laptop while I worked on my laptop. It was almost like being at home.
NOT!
BTW, he was working on fixing the NLL pool stats so for those interested everything should be updated now :-)
- There has been significant improvement over how Graeme was when he came in to the hospital. The doctor believes Graeme is stable and improving so we are trying to get him transferred to Hamilton. We just don't know when that will be. Even if he is transferred, we are probably looking at another two weeks in the hospital.
- Graeme has been sitting up in the chair or on the bed quite a bit today which means he is getting more energy
- The nose prongs are still there but his oxygen has been turned down to 2 liters/min and he doesn't need to wear it when he goes to the washroom.
- The incentive sporometer is helping open up his lungs too. Graeme has been able to put all three balls up to the top and hold them there for half a second.
- The doctor says the fluid under his lungs is gone and it looks like some of the inflammation around his legs has decreased.
- The expectation at this point is that half to three quarters of Graems's pancreas has been damaged. Some of the pancreas may physically regenerate but they won't be able to tell for a while how it's function has been impacted. He may need pills to supplement or replace the pancreatic enzymes and/or he may be diabetic and need insulin shots. Further imaging will be required to determine exactly what state the pancreas is in but that likely won't be for a few weeks.
- Being in bed has taken a toll. Graeme's back and side are quite sore today and he needed to ask for a pain pill. At least, his abdomen isn't hurting which is good.
- The boys came in on Family Day and had a chance to see that Graeme has improved. We played some games and enjoyed our time together.
- Popsicles are still pretty high on Graeme's list of good things!
That's all I have for now but I will keep you posted,
Gail
